Great Britain Day
It’s almost been nine months since our momentous decision to leave the European Union. At long last it appears we will soon be triggering Article 50 to begin the departure process. Yes the EU referendum was a divisive issue, but there can be no doubt that the right decision by the British people was made. Already virtually all of the economic forecasts made by the ‘experts’ for the immediate period after the vote have proven wholly incorrect. Surprise! Surprise! We have confounded the experts and we will continue to do so.
So in the new spirit of independence what could be better than the creation of a new bank holiday in celebration of our great country. We all know it’s long overdue. The only time it seems we can ever celebrate as a country is when the Queen is having a ‘bit of a do’. Well we deserve more than that. So many other countries set aside days in their public holiday calendar to celebrate their country, so why shouldn’t we?
I have therefore set up a petition on the Parliamentary Petitions website demanding we have a new public holiday for us to all come together and celebrate our shared citizenship. Whether Tory or Labour, remain or leaver, Christian or Muslim, gay or straight, black or white we must unite. Sign the petition here - https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/188212
Let’s now all prepare for our new global freedom as we remove the undemocratic shackles of the European Union. Let’s embrace the healthier aspects of globalisation and abandon globalism. At long last we can now enjoy a newly empowered Great Britain.
For those of you having Article 50 parties on the day of activation I hope they go exceedingly well. Have a great time!
