Our Industry.......

Hatfield_Toulouse_BW_160330.jpg

70 years ago, Hatfield had one of the very best aircraft factories in the whole World (De Havillands – Mosquito, Vampire, Comet….etc, etc).

Toulouse was just getting over the Second World War.

Today Hatfield has an ASDA depot and some housing crammed onto the derelict factory grounds.

Toulouse has Airbus; one of the World’s leading Plane-makers .

Hatfield has an iffy Bus service and an unreliable railway served by a subsidiary of the French (nationalized) railway SNCF.

Toulouse has state-of-the-art trams – and 200mph TGV trains to other cities (run by French (nationalized) railway SNCF).

We need good Industrial Policy; run by sensible leaders with sound long term vision.

Tata Steel’s  announcement this week is just the latest bit of very bad news.

A Tory Government comprised largely of Eton /Bullingdon Club Clowns unlikely to be able to grasp much more.
