The Tories seem to believe that privatizations are the easy answer to achieving better services and reducing cost.
But do they really?
Nationally; a few may have done so.
But at a local level?
Badly supervised bin collection service by Serco; run under a contract with poor supervision and inadequate penalties for failure? - Surely not.
Poor leisure services run by Finesse – in particular the shambles at Stanborough Lakes? - No way!
French nationalized rail company SNCF winning the bidding to control the running of our local train services (Thameslink Great Northern) - one of the least reliable lines in the Country with train cancellations galore? – Hardly.
In particular when the French, German, Dutch and Hong Kong Chinese all have publicly owned rail companies that can and do bid for and run British rail services; whilst we have not been allowed to run a similar business.
Despite the Tories getting only 37% of the votes in the 2015 General election, their ideological drive for even more privatizations go on.
Insidious attempts to privatize the NHS; starving it of adequate funds and publicizing the consequent disasters. Meanwhile encouraging privatized health start-ups in the Borough.
We know where that is leading……
Isn’t it time to stop and think a bit deeper?
