We might not have toppled Grant Shapps and the Conservatives in Welwyn Hatfield this time, but we’re only 7,000 votes away from doing it next time.
With your support, time and generous donations we managed to not only increase the Labour vote by almost 11%, we also achieved a 5% swing to Labour.
And to top that off, we finished the morning by welcoming two new Labour Councillors. Tara-Mary Lyons to the Borough Council and Margaret Eames-Petersen on Hatfield Town Council, both in Hatfield Villages where Labour have never won before.
So whether you were one of the many members, supporters or activists that joined us on the doorstep, at a street stall, dropped hundreds of leaflets through people’s doors or proudly crossed the Labour box on the ballot – Thank you.
It’s thanks to you and your involvement that we ran a campaign that sent a clear message to Grant Shapps that Welwyn Hatfield will not be taken for granted.
The campaign doesn't end here, so keep an eye out for more activity very soon...
