Why are the Tories sitting on money allocated for infrastructure projects in Welwyn Hatfield?

Welwyn Hatfield is making plans for thousands of new homes across our borough, but your concerns about how local infrastructure will cope are sitting_on_money.jpgbeing ignored by the Tories.

Our schools, roads, healthcare, and even more basic amenities are badly in need of upgrade but we’re always told that there’s no money for these things (but of course, there is enough for hefty pay rises for Conservative Councillors).

When large housing developments have taken place in Welwyn Hatfield, a portion of money has to be paid to the Council so that it can pay for the relevant infrastructure needed to cope with the extra people living in the area.  If it’s not spent in a fairly generous time period, the money goes back to the private developer.

The Conservative Council is sitting on millions of pounds of this money. Funds are sat in the bank, while roads crumble, community facilities face cuts, and parents struggle to find places for their children to go to school.

This isn’t financial prudence, this is the kind of scandalous misuse of your money that Labour will continue to fight against.
