Nurses with Labour's Birthday Card, celebrating 70 years of service

Celebrating 70 years of our NHS.

On Friday 14th September, representatives from Welwyn Hatfield Labour met with Nurses at the QE2 to present three Birthday cards, full of messages from the public. The cards were signed by residents from across the community in Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield at Labour party street stalls held earlier this year.

Councillor Max Holloway said “It was really special being able to present this card to the hardworking staff at the QE2. They do fantastic work under often very difficult circumstances. There were so many personal messages in these cards which proves just how much the staff at the QE2 mean to our community”

He added “Sometimes it’s a bit of a task getting people to come and take a look at a street stall, but not this one. We had residents queuing to sign and that’s a testament to how much people value the NHS. Let’s make sure it gets the funding it deserves”

Labour will invest in our NHS, to give patients the modern, well-resourced services they need for the 21st century. Labour will ensure that NHS patients get the world-class quality of care they need and that staff are able to deliver the standards that patients expect. We’ll also fund free parking in NHS England – for patients, staff and visitors – by increasing the tax on private medical insurance premiums.
