Howlands – Max Holloway
Hello! My name is Max and I’m one of your local Labour councillors here in Howlands.
I’m proud to represent the ward I live in – I’ve lived here all my life. I know you are being let down by a Conservative Council that refuses to listen and doesn’t stand up for you when it really matters.
I’ve been fighting to change that.
Soon we’ll all be receiving Council Tax bills showing the reality of the Conservatives plan for our town. Essential services are cut back and reduced, while the price you pay goes up.
From price hikes on parking permits to paying more simply to have a brown bin to keep your garden tidy, this is not the time to put additional costs onto hard working people.
Speaking to many of you on the doorstep I know how worried you are about the cost of living crisis, especially the incoming energy price increases. I’m so angry to see no meaningful action coming out of the Conservative Government, leaving too many families struggling to make ends meet. It’s time to send the Conservatives a message that enough is enough.
As your Councillor I’ve taken up case work on issues including housing and waste collection, raised your concerns about the overdevelopment of our town, and voted against the Conservative local plan that would see development and overcrowding in Welwyn Garden City and nothing in the surrounding villages.
I’ve chaired committees on Climate Change and more recently Housing Maintenance – securing action to improve the service to residents up and down our town. And just like I promised, I’ve never voted for a Councillor pay-rise – instead donating any increase to local and national charities.
It doesn’t have to be like this and we deserve better. Labour will bring real positive change to Welwyn Hatfield.
More council housing to make sure our loved ones have affordable, good quality homes to bring up their families. Support local businesses and help create the environment they need, not just watch them close their doors or move away.
Please get in touch using the details in this leaflet. I’ve always done my best to help residents – and I always will.
